• I am in a long distance relationship. I live in the Midwest and he lives on the East coast. He's 11 years my senior. After 6 months of dating, he says he is still not ready to see each other in person and doesn't want to FaceTime or have me visit him. Anything that I do, he threatens to leave the relationship.....that includes disagreeing with him. He says that he is a believer in Christ. He has started yelling at me over the phone and not allowing me to question anything that he does. Is this normal of a 55 year old, African American man? Is this a long distance red flag?

• I have to admit that the red flags for communication and talking about hard topics is a big one for me. When I was in college and dating my then boyfriend, he and I used to talk about everything, and I do mean everything. We never left no stones unturned when it came to discussing anything. It is a must if you desire a relationship to thrive. If you have the ingredients for a safe person in your life, then be opened. This is how relationships will grow. However, if one is always shutting down or pushing one away then you need to evaluate whether or not this is the season you need to be by yourself. The right person in your life will pray with you and walk life out with you when you can converse purely.
