In reply to @Desertpuma. An exercise you can do is to walk around the venue as soon as you enter it, try making contact with everyone and notice who meets your gaze. These people are the most engaged.

Well I was talking to a lovely Russian lady the other week, but the thousand yard stare forced me to break eye contact. I did it gently so I think I just about got away with it.

That’s all well and good though good luck in trying to find a woman who 1) doesn’t find you creepy walking around the room trying to make eye contact, they’d assume you’re just casing the joint to steal their iphones, 2) will actually engage in any conversation whatsoever so you could actually listen to them, they’ll just stare at you and make you feel like an idiot and laugh at you if you say something “honest” and 3) won’t really laugh at you if you say what you really want and try to be a decisive “take charge” kinda guy. What women notice in the real world of course is hair, rolexes, the American Express Centurion Card and whether you’re going to buy them all those things that’ll make’em happy!
