I moved from Japan to the US the summer before starting second grade. I had such a great experience at my elementary school and the transition was quite smooth yet fun. We learned a handful of patriotic songs and a different student got to pick which song we would sing at the start of each morning after we said the pledge of allegiance.
I’d be shocked to hear if this is still a thing that is done in classrooms.
I don’t have children yet, but I’m already quite worried about raising them in a country where too many people are simply haters who do not love the country.
I hope these young people who do have the influence bring back some patriotism among the young.
