Brits and Americans Communicate Differently

I interview Phil from Cambridge UK about one of the biggest differences between Americans and Brits in communication. Are Brits as prim and proper as people think? Which part of the US is similar to the British passive aggressiveness?

If every day started with a video like this, I would always walk around with a smile to my ears🍓

Sounds like you simply need to be able to decipher sarcasm, lol.

Southern woman here. Bless your heart is not always insulting. Context, tone & inflection matter. It can be everything from an expression of sympathy to exasperation to a knife cut to your ego. Bless his heart though, he didn’t grow up from around here, so he can be forgiven for not knowing.

🇬🇧& people say it here too & it’s not insulting either

@KimberlyGreen  Northerner here, raised by southerners. While I agree with you, I think we in the north don’t always understand your context, tone and inflection in the south.

Just an honest, sometimey observation regarding this northerner’s, southern extended family, lol.

@@Gee2deDubya I lived for a time in Boston. I agree that Northerners don’t always catch the nuances, which is perfectly understandable. I got befuddled up there sometimes too. 🤣

@ Interesting. Is it a regional thing? The man from Cambridge didn’t seem aware of it.

I see what you did there at the end 😀

  • @aaronpischke5019 says:

The Pacific Northwest is the crown jewel of American passive aggressive behavior. Brits would feel perfectly at home here (plus the weather’s similar 😂).
