  • We look European because our roots are European. More than 90% of our population is of European descent, mostly Italian and Spanish, but also from other countries. To give you an example, I could say that 50% of my ancestry is Italian, in fact I am an Italian citizen, 25% of Spanish ancestry and 25% of German-Jewish ancestry.

  • True, Argentinians and Uruguayans look europeans, mostly italians or eastern europeans as well as germans or dutch

  • @@faygox955 Thanks for your honest fact and personal heritage 😊. Same thing could be said for the Brazilians living in the Southern states like RS, Parana and Curitiba followed by the state and city of Sao Paulo.

  • @@Rajubhaibambawala As you rightly commented, this also applies to a region of Brazil, the south to be more specific. But unlike Argentina and Uruguay where more than 90% of our population is of European ethnicity, in Brazil it only applies to one region, which consequently affects a lower percentage of its total population of European ethnicity. And this is not a criticism, in fact many Argentinians like to vacation in the south of Brazil, and one of the reasons is because it is easier to find places with bidet... A custom inherited from Italy and some parts of Spain.

• There is a lot of Germans in Argentina and Brazil

  • Not much germans in Argentina , they are a little more in some parts of the countryside.

  The Jamaican lady want it to be more open so she can find stuff from her country then she in the wrong country because in the US it very open if you live in a big city were their people from all over the world

  As for food like I said before in this comment the US is very open if you live in a big city where their people from all over the world because you will never get bored with food because you can find foods from all over the world

  I live in Dallas, Texas US and as a Foodie since I been born, I can go to an Argentina restaurant one day then go to a Jamaican restaurant the next day then go to a Mexican restaurant the next then go to a xyz place the next day and so on and so on which is great because it shows how diverse Dallas/North Texas area is as a whole

• Argentina is the most whitest or European nation is South America which is a fact

  • Argentina is not white lol, just the metropolitan region of Buenos Aires that received a large number of Europeans in the past, but leaving Buenos Aires you only find indigenous people and mestizos, just like in Brazil, there are several places in Brazil that have a huge population white, but this does not mean that Brazil is a predominantly white country

  • Clearly you've never been to Uruguay. Uruguay is far whiter, while Argentina, especially in the Northwest provinces, like Jujuy and Salta, have a significant indigenous pedigree. Besides, Argentina gets a lot of more indigenous or mestizo people from Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, and now Venezuela, that some of them are already second or third generation naturalized Argentines, while the Italians, Spaniards, Germans, Poles, and other Europeans have stopped migrating in massive numbers. There is also a sizeable West Asian (Lebanese, Israeli, Armenians), and, to a lesser extent, East Asian population (Chinese, Korean, Japanese).

• I fully understand why some people are confused by our appearance with respect to the location of the country. Unfortunately, culture is confused with ethnicity. We are proud to be Argentines, and we are proud of the roots of our families, that can be seen represented in several factors, from the majority of restaurants to the brands of vehicles we drive. And since the majority of the population is descended from the European immigrant stream between 1880 and the end of the Second World War, that is why more than 90% of our population is of European ethnicity. This has repercussions in our customs and culture, which has repercussions in that we are not so attached to the customs of the original people, as can be seen in other Latin American countries.

  We are quite stubborn in that regard, yeah. In my case for example, being vegan for years, I had to go through the stage of people wondering what in the world I would eat if not asado and empanadas de carne. But little by little we've become more open with trying more food and incorporating it daily. So if you visit Argentina as the years go by, I'm sure you'll see more and more variety :)

  • Yes. But do not get "european diversity" with Africans or middle eastern people like we have in Europe.
