• Love all the examples of the gaslighters being manipulative men

  • They certainly aren’t all men. One of my best guy friends, who is one of the strongest, most godly, most respectable man I know has a wife who is like this and she’s well-respected. You’d never know about a man who’s abused unless you have a very keen eye to discern the signs.

    And with the woman abuser, especially with children and in a marriage, she threatens to take his kids and rob him of EVERYTHING to maintain control of him. It’s absolutely terrible and nearly impossible to get out of at times!

  • @@jennhawkins5356 I was being facetious. Outside of narcissists and psychopaths I feel like most gaslighters and manipulators are women.

• My wife says “I didn’t say that” like twice a week. It I guess it’s not bad if a woman does it, Bruce you only give examples of men.

• If you suspect your being gaslit, sometimes a diary might not be a bad option

  • I did write a diary and it helped a lot to see later that the relationship wasn’t normal.

  • Seriously. Also, if you ever sit down with a counselor, you can open that journal for them to help guide you through what’s happening to regain your sanity and see clearly through all the smoke and mirrors.

• Is this a behavior that will or can change? And how many times do we allow it to happen?

  • I think they need to be willing to see it in themselves, but sometimes their egos are too fragile to do that.

    God can help them, but sometimes they don’t even want to ask God for help because they don’t want to see it in themselves in order to ask for help…if that makes sense?

• Theres also an emotional level to this "you're reacting so weird, why are you this upset?" That kind of thing

• OMG In my last relationship, I was going to get checked for early Alzheimer's. He would go through these elaborate conversations we had that I COULD NOT remember. I was so scared I was losing it. The one sane brain cell I had left in the back of my head said, "You don't seem to have this problem at work...." A few years later, he was diagnosed with BP1D. He made me feel like I was the crazy one.

  • Sorry, Bipolar 1 disease. He was also a raging alcoholic because he was self medicating. Drinking to the point of grand mal seizures at the end.

• I’m going through this right now! My husband does this all the time to me I feel like I’m losing my mind.

• Thank you Mat : Gaslightimg can also be seen in so called "friendly" telationships. We knew that we were NOT losing our minds because they had done it with other neighbours before .it's strange how sick some women can be to have to resort to such underhand tactics. And it is not surprising we never see them with any friends ...or with men....or with a man ( a special man)

• I went through these examples with my ex-husband and one of my female coworkers.
  I thought I was losing it.

  I wrote a diary of what I was going through with my husband so that I can read it later which I realized that the relationship wasn’t normal.
