• After a 30 year marriage that was honestly one sided and I was the one being used, Iceland would be a living hell for me because sex and relationships are different. For me, I don't just want sex and honestly couldn't without that feeling of love, attraction, commitment, and a desire to be with that person for the rest of my life. To me it seems like their culture has lost that which I value most sadly. IMHO I believe they have lost the true meaning of what it is to be with someone other than just sex. I want a best friend and partner, her and myself against the world kind of thing. Without that …this would be a trip from hell.

• omg this is so true, ever since i come here to iceland people keeps asking me about one night stand with them. Once i got asked like 3x in a day from a total strangers it's so wild over here, but that was 5 years ago. Now, i prefer to stay home. Having so many sex without proper intimacy and connection can dull your heart eventually.

• I'm reading an amazing memoir "My Awful Luck With Men" by roya shynz. She said there was a time back in her conservative country when guys would ask if she was open to sex . If her immediate answer wasn't yes, they would just move on to the next girl.

• If You're not Icelandic (a foreigner to be accurate) and you fell inlove to an Icelandic girl, damnnn that'll hurt for sure...and for me a guy that wants and needs true love, this is the worst place...I love Iceland because of its scenery and the history of the country but to find true love here? nahhh forget about it...

  • @Xeno Moe asians in general are usually more committed then say here in western countries. I dated a girl from japan for 7 years, a girl from Indonesia for 3 years. My best relationships, they showed the most love and gave me the most affection. They committed theirself more then any white girl ever has. Not to mention the sex was always better with them lol.

  • @Romylist la cultura, el clima, la idiosincrasia también cuentan. Los Islandeses me parecen más libres, mienstras que los japoneses me parecen más auto-reprimidos, por decirlo de alguna forma.

• I think I pretty much understand now how socializing and mating in Northern European countries works. It's rooted in the fact that it's usually cold outside.

  • Unlike in Florida, women just stay inside and watch Netflix all day, and the only time they leave home is for their job, and GOD FORBID you sneak your number to them on a note

    Young men here are screwed. No single women in restaurants, the park, not even in stores anymore. Forget church, all the women there are taken and 20 year old single men look weird there. "Why aren't you married?" "Why don't single women go to church?"

• This is not that surprising in a small society where everyone knows everyone else or knows someone who knows any others. The risks to women may be correspondingly very low. This level of sexual interaction is based on the very high trust levels as a result and the very low sexism in material and cultural arrangements.

    It's all in good fun but don't forget that Icelandic is the closest language to Old Norse, and it's _very_ close.
