    • Men sometimes don’t get being subtle. I decided i had nothing to lose. I just said “you know, i like you.” I blushed. But i didn’t lose it and giggle like a school girl. Lol. I was reserved but nervous. He blushed and smiled. And then i just said “i thought i would let you know.” And then excused myself to get on with my day. And i left it at that. Everyone saying “don’t chase” - you don’t. Just let him know he has a shot. But then let him pursue. Just because you’re interested, doesn’t mean you know he’s right for you yet. Just let him feel that energy- “I’m interested, but let’s see what you’re all about.”

    • @@MarthaJDK you’re welcome. My boyfriend is wonderful. And who knows what would have happened, if i had not said anything. After being cheated on and ghosted by a narcissist, i really felt that freedom. Like, i’ve already experienced the worst a relationship can offer. So what’s the worst that can happen? He says no? That’s a walk in the park compared to an awful relationship. I think we make it so much about us that we’re afraid. When it is simply that we are not someone’s type. If i like vanilla, it’s not that strawberry is bad. I just like vanilla and someone else out there thinks strawberry is their favorite. It’s just something we cannot control. Dating is the same. We can’t control what we like, and neither can the other person. And a big step is being ok with that but putting yourself out there.

  • So how do you recommend we make it obvious without coming on too strong? I like asking to go to eat or get coffee or study (many years ago in college) or something but don't call it a date.

    • Repeatedly showing interest is too strong. I think anything other than that is ok, short of being sexual in the advances. I came out and told my boyfriend that i was interested in him, that i liked him. And then i did nothing. Lol he did the rest to schedule dates and things like that.

Story- a man i worked with kept making small talk. I actually thought i was being rude by cutting conversation short and not wanting to talk. Then he started asked what i do after work. Then he asked he asked where myself and ladies from work were going…you see the pattern. Then he asked to walk me to my car. He just kept escalating his effort. That’s chasing and repeatedly trying. Sometimes people just don’t want to be hurtful. My experience is, be as clear as you feel comfortable being. But then accept what happens after. Anyone truly interested, isn’t going to pass up spending more time with you.

    • @@Mayfloweralways ok ty! I think that is in line with being first to always start conversation. I only ask once and wait and see of guys who have flirted with me. I guess they are flirting only for fun bc most were not interested in more and I know they were flirting. The men I don't like are persistent to the point where it comes across as harassment. Yikes.

  • I am suspended in the friendzone. Way too shy. My cheeks flush and I usually say something so deflective that few people stand a chance
