Don't direct approach. You're not really seeking approval by asking where the local grocery store is. Don't be seen as seeking a relationship, someone to cuddle and walk on the beach with. That will nauseate anyone under 25. Women would initially prefer the guy who wants to hit it and get back to his purpose

We've been taught since childhood to "be ourselves" and "not care about what others think of us". But, as a matter of fact, without "others" there is no "self"; as social animals, we absolutely should care about what our tribesmen think of us. Therefore, instead of pushing for this "not caring about others" nonsense which won't succeed anyway, use our "caring about others" as a strength. Be social, engage with others, confront enemies, make friends, and make your legacy in the society.
