• What a beautiful perspective! I generally feel this way interacting with Nordic cultures and people. But let me tell ya, a couple of these shorts with people from the Netherlands lol 😅, they don’t seem shy at all lol

  When I am at a friend's house for a party and someone else arrives I can never go to say hi like everyone else. I just keep sitting in the corner frozen looking like a deer in front of headlights.

• It is absolutely true that swedes might look away because they're shy, but it can also just be a politeness thing, since staring can be seen as very wierd or aggressive at times. Even in more "extroverted" parts of the country, they'll acknowledge your presense, maybe utter a small "Hej" and nodd, but then they'll stop paying you any mind since they don't want to come off as intrusive.

  If thats normal in other countries, I don't know. But as I said, this is the general reaction in the MOST extroverted parts of the country. Unless they already know you personaly, in which case you'll of course be in for a longer chat.

• As a swede this is absolutely true. And it's something i do as well. It's like THE place for introverts. But even if we sometimes comes off as hard to get, once you have made contact you could potentially have a friend for life.

• Omg, ive been thinking about moving to sweden ever since i learned they got paid to go to high school 😂 i was born to a half indian half english father and a swedish mother in new york. never been to either countries, didn't bother learning hindi/swedish growing up(thought it was a waste of time). i can cook a few indian and swedish dishes. english food bums me out. would love to know more about my heritage but idk where to start. my mom's family is very cold to me and my paternal grandparents passed away a while back 💔

• I love Scandinavian people. Socialy they can come across a bit of an odd duck compared to other cultures (something they freely admit).

  They do honestly try though. They are naturally humble as a culture goes (to a point of there own disservice at times.... again something they will admit) .

  Once you can get pass the hard shell they are incredible people.

  When it comes to living with a group of people day to day I personally prefer an Irish woman (and Ireland in general) and the humor and general gregariousness over a Swedish or Norwegian woman but they are a close second.

  Just a little suggestion. If you ever meet a Scandinavian on holiday. Just know they may be far more social and outgoing them when you decide to visit them back home.
