Along with the not assuming that he will see your value point, I would say don’t assume that a man can read vague and generalized statements and figure out what direction you are going in or what you mean by them.

On this same subject, I would also say not to assume that is not interested in your seemingly smaller or more specific goals, tasks, and desires are.

In reply to @rx4207. Matching negative energies is a trap. State your business upfront and if they don't stand on it with you, just leave. A man will not do what he will not do. We need to stop infantilizing grown adults. If they are too immature to have a muture relationship, they should stay single until they work on themselves to gain that maturity. We need to stop normalizing one-sided maturity in adult relationships.

In reference to not assuming what his needs and desires are, it is wise not assume that every man is ok with and enjoys cussing and alcohol, and don’t assume that every man is willing to settle for it in a woman or considers it the mark of a “good woman” or the best that he can get.

One last thing i have to say is this. We have to take people at face value. If a man tells you outright that he doesn't want a relationship, believe him. No matter the time invested, it's time to walk. That's part of what creates the unnecessary craziness for some women. They think they're going to make the man change his mind, instead of acknowledging what he just told you out his mouth
