Supporting someone means helping them do something they can do themselves, while enabling means doing things for them that they should be doing for themselves.
I definitely have been guilty of enabling my sons in some ways in the past which caused them to have a spirit of entitlement. In these last 3 years I have transitioned from enabling to supporting them when I can with healthier boundaries.
