Or 30 years?
He’s taking space, so let him have it. It never helps to try to pull them back. State calmly how you feel and that you would like to feel closer. Create happiness in life on your own and let him feel *your* space. If he comes closer, to feel more connected, wonderful. If he doesn’t, it’s appropriate to decide what kind of relationship you want to stay in.
You get a divorce. Why would you accept living like that? It’s always going to be on his terms. Don’t be a doormat.
This advice is 100% true. Guys like this are trying to get with someone else and will come back to you after the girl they wanted rejected them. Guys like this are losers and a waste of your time! Remember, ladies, rejection is protection!
How soon after he ghosts you should you send this or does it not matter?
I think after your trials to reach out(not chase him) has proved to be abortive.
Rejection is protection and time heals it all.
5 years with someone then he left. A week later he called me and told me he’s back with his ex. That is closure so it’s not ghosting however he left me when I thought we were good.
It’s been a year since we’ve been apart. Now he’s texting me for my Birthday and the holidays. Whatever he says I respond the same nothing more nothing less.
Now when he texts me again I will say I’m grateful for you.

Maybe, but it simply means he doesn't have the emotional capacity and the right communication skill set needed for him to be in your life.
Just find peace and move on.
I've been with a man like that, just let him go. If you don't, it just pushes him away further.
