What are SWEDES Really Like?

I ask Swedes on the streets of Gothenburg on what they think is the most true and least true stereotype about Sweden. Are Swedes really rich? Are Swedes as happy as they say? Are Swedes reserved and unfriendly?

I used Envato Elements for graphics and visuals.

-“I don’t agree with the tall and blonde” – “but , you are tall” – “yes , i used to be blonde” 😂😂😂 this one got me

    • @John-Is-My-Name says:

I think there is a missconconception where some people think they are not blond beceause its common in sweden to be born blond but as you get older you get darker and darker hair. until you have like what we call it “rat-grey” or sometimes like for me it is actually brown. But I was totally blond as a child. These people should probably be called blond because that is how they started.

  • @dj4monie says:

Love it. Generally found the same thing in Sweden. Can’t visit for a short time because of the social circles but that said if you can make friends in Sweden, things open up but you can say that about most countries. Major advantage is that most Swedes speak English.

  • @carl_11 says:

Looking from here I realize that the height stereotype is not a stereotype, it is the pure truth, even women too, they seem to be my height (5’9 / 174-175 cm, yes, I’m short guy) or even bigger , introverts, don’t talk much, look for “Fika”, hate the weather, etc.😂

  • @klimtkahlo says:

Swedes seem like my kind of people! 💞 from a non-confrontational, extroverted, punctual (!!!) southern European!

  • @oliverfa08 says:

They say “we aren’t blonde” and mostly i saw is blonde hair 😂 , they say “we aren’t introvert” and mostly said they don’t like to talk especially with strangers 😂 , they say “we aren’t tall” when the “shortest” guy i saw is probably 5’11 / 180-181 cms 😂

  • @felicciasc says:

I worked for Ericsson for 6 years. That’s true about avoiding conflict

    • @canchero724 says:

The Vikings would be in shambles seeing this modern day aversion.

    • @AndrewTheVikings says:

@@canchero724 They would be completely disappointed them.

    • @jw841 says:

Yet they have been importing conflict into their country for a few decades now. Ever since Olaf Palmer was PM. They have also sponsored a number of marxist terrorist organizations in both South America and Africa since the 70’s. I lived in Sweden for awhile and hypocrisy is also a very big Swedish trait.

    • @Baphomet-bk7cx says:

But mostly swedish women never avoided if there arab men approaced them

  • @AlyssaChloeNYC says:

Lagom=mellan mjölk …😂😂😂 i love this extra attention to sweden , its like the moon

  • @tobiojo6469 says:

    Cool video

  • @Socks-and-Dave says:

I’m an introvert and I don’t like conflict so it seems that I would fit right in!

  • @Joekool88 says:

As an Asian extrovert: who the hell approaches people at bus stops?!

  • @johngonzalez4298 says:

Happy Thursday, Marina! Great video and keep it up 👍🏻. Sending you my love from Miami, Florida, USA 🇺🇲

This channel is really awesome and Marina is a queen 😉❤️ One video should be made on us,viewers; how we are being benefited by this channel.

There’s a thing that stuck me in Sweden, as a Portuguese. Being interrupted and to interrupt (insert regret face) a normal informal conversation is quite common in Portugal. However, that’s not the case in Sweden. Especially Northern Sweden, they will let you talk and talk and they will only reply when you finish your point, after waiting some seconds, just to make sure you really ended speaking. This is really interesting in my opinion.

    • @draug7966 says:

It’s because interrupting is seen as kind of rude or disrespectful basically. We love our personal space and not getting interrupted is part of that i guess.

    • @duartesilva7907 says:

@@draug7966 yes, it may be so.

    • @emiladelow8463 says:

Why would you feel the need to interrupt someone when talking ?

    • @JH_75 says:

That is an interesting comment, I hadn’t noticed that. I am an American and by way of my own experiences I have taught myself to listen more carefully to people and let them finish completely , as you mention, before responding. I do believe it is a sign of respect and shows you are genuinely interested in the other persons comments rather than trying to get your bit out. I think it makes for a better exchange and leaves others feeling happier and more satisfied with an exchange. Thank you.

    • @duartesilva7907 says:

@@emiladelow8463 I’m not saying on formal ocasions, there usually everyone respects and lets the person talk. But in informal settings, more often than not, in many countries you have a phenomenom more similar to a free for all.. It has to do with a culture valuing more restraint than emotional attachement..

  • @taimarcusokuno2418 says:

That quiz is interesting. I got Irish and I am one. Bring on the banter!

  • @eneacreativedesign says:

At 0:40, it is spelled queue, not cue.

  • @danidiaz2377 says:

They’re so cute I love the Swedes !!!!

  • @hglundahl says:

5:57 Herring is “strömming” or “sill” … “surströmming” is a very specific kind of herring, it has been fermenting by bacteria for months before packaging in cans.

Most Swedes don’t eat “surströmming” I think he may have got the translation of “herring” wrong …

Most Swedes like some kind of herring, like North Germans, but apart from Norrland, we usually don’t like “surströmming” … in Lund, people gathering around “surströmming” are thereby showing they come from about as far North of Lund as Rome is South of Lund … (yes, Sweden is very drawn out in the North-South dimension!).

  • @immortal_i says:

the end man had really good speach of the good life

  • @JH_75 says:

The guy at 8:50 is hilarious. “No development at all.” That is comedy gold right there and he seems like a great guy.

  • @zoltanhorvath7454 says:

It sounds like i have lots of common things with the Swedish people in general.
I don’t like talking much, Don’t socialise much, keep it for myself, cold personality, i have got the height and look as well.
I wonder if i had any Swedish ancestors or not, being a Hungarian guy…🤔
